Motivation123 Weekly QuickTip
Becoming a Meaningful Specific Issue: July 1
With this one simple step you can get excited, motivated and enthusiastic about
improving your life. It will get your juices flowing, and add the energy to your
desires that are necessary for success. You only need to do one thing, and it takes
only minutes.
Get specific.
So many people out there have no clue where they are going, and it will probably not
be a pleasant place when they get there. The success stories we hear about don't
happen by chance. A young woman trying to lose weight didn't watch it happen to her;
she made it happen to her. The man who wanted to quit smoking didn't amazingly lose
the desire to smoke, he took specific steps to drop the habit.
Know what you want
Whatever it is you want in life, be specific about it. If you
want to lose weight you should know exactly how much weight you want to lose, and
what you plan on doing to make it happen. It's such a simple step and yet it brings
you one step closer to making it a reality. That is exciting. That is what it takes
to keep you motivated.
What do you want in life? A short question, but one that very few can answer. Do you
know? Do you have specific desires and strategies to attain them, or do you simply
wait to see what life has to throw at you?
I can guarantee that if you will just take a few minutes to get specific about your
needs and wants you will have success. You cannot improve your life if you think it
will happen by chance. Happiness and success rarely fall into one's lap. The true
achievers know what they want and create a plan to get it.
Strategy in action
Nancy Fassbender wanted to change jobs, and fast. She worked for
a boss she didn't like, and at a company she didn't care for. The only problem was,
she only knew what she didn't want, but had no idea about what she did want.
After giving it a few days of thought, Nancy put her desire in writing. For the
first time she began to think it was possible. It wasn't a distant thought that she
had anymore. It was there, it was concrete. She knew she could do it, and only two
weeks after getting specific about her desires Nancy had a new career that she
loved.
Another woman by the name of Ginger Henkel faced the same set of circumstances. She
was unhappy with her job, but wasn't clear about why she was unsettled. Ginger
simply knew that she wasn't happy. Knowing what you don't like isn't enough. She had
to get specific.
Ginger sat down and put two solid hours into listing exactly what she didn't like
about her job. The great news was, it didn't call for a change in companies, just a
few slight changes to her current position. Before getting specific about her
desires she had no clue as to the source of the problem or how easily it could be
fixed.
These are just a few of the real life examples of what getting specific can do for
you. Take aim in life. The chances of accidentally bumping into better days are low.
How getting specific worked for me
I had thought about publishing a book for some
time, but as with most thoughts, it came and went. Not until I got specific about
what I wanted did the picture become clear and exciting. When I took the steps to
develop a specific strategy for writing a book I was motivated in an instant.
Seeing the plan written down on a sheet of paper made it seem possible. I knew
exactly what I wanted, and in less than a year I was successful. Motivated in
Minutes was the result of a specific strategy. I was able to create a resource
guaranteed to help others improve every aspect of their lives and all because I knew
what I wanted.
