Thinking Outside the Box
People get stuck in a rut. They try the same old things, and they usually get the same old results. After time, most people feel like just giving up.

If you find you are getting stuck in a rut, the story that follows may open your eyes to a whole new way of thinking. Sometimes thinking outside the box is the only way to break free of the motivation slump.

Megan Hill was a young employee at a large company on the East Coast. Their year was quickly coming to an end, and her quota wasn't met. She was responsible for selling 1,000 units by the end of the month, and time was running out.

She needed constant motivation to keep her going, and Megan was nearly at the end of her ideas. Then one day she came into work with a T-shirt that had 'Sell 1,000 Units' written on the front of it.

She wore the shirt to keep her mind focused on the goal, and to remind herself what she needed to do. Her shirt not only did that, it also connected with her peers.

Every time a coworker saw her shirt, they asked her about it. Megan would explain why she wore it, and what she needed to accomplish.

After a week of being reminded about their company goals, others started asking about how they could get a shirt like the one she had. At the end of the month, nearly 15 people had shirts with goals written on them, but this time Megan's shirt was slightly different. Her shirt now read '1,000 Units Sold'.

Megan Hill thought outside of the box. When it comes to motivation, there are no rules, no guidelines that you have to follow. Anything goes, and that means anything. If you have a crazy idea that may help to motivate you, do it. Don't worry about how different or strange it is, just give it a try.

Thinking outside of the box may be exactly what you need to escape your motivation rut.
