Eliminating Stress with a Pencil
One of the reasons we become stressed is because of the thousand and one
things that are racing around our minds. Did I finish that project? Is
Billy done with his homework? How am I going to pay all of these bills?
Will I ever get that promotion?
With all of these thoughts in our minds, it's easy to see why even the
best of us can get stressed out fast. The solution is to get the thoughts
out of your head and onto paper.
Clearing your thoughts completely and starting from scratch would surely
remedy your stressful situation, but you just can't forget all of that
important information. That's why you have a pencil and a piece of paper.
After writing down your thoughts, responsibilities, and concerns your
mind will be free to think of solutions instead of getting stressed
out about the problems.
Sit in a quiet, well-lit room with a sheet of paper and a pencil. Make a list
of every thought that has been constantly coming up in your mind. Write
until you can't write anymore. When you are finished, you should have a nice
list of the things that are currently at the forefront of your brain and
in need of some attention.
After your list is created, set out a plan to solve or correct each item.
If you are worried about paying your bills, create a bill paying system
that ensures this gets done. If you don't know whether or not a certain
project has been completed, do a little research at the office.
Getting your thoughts out of your head and into a workable form is one way
to combat stress head on. Not only will your mind be clear of worry, it will
also be ready to solve your problems instead of becoming stressed about them.
