Your VCR Holds the Key to Happiness
I know what you're thinking, 'How is a VCR the secret to
happiness?' You will soon realize that the machine sitting
by your television can do much more for you than simply
play movies.
Each of the buttons on your VCR represents an important
lesson. Paying more attention to it will result
in a happier and more successful life.
PLAY
The first lesson is to play. Let go of your worries,
stresses, and problems for now and take time
to just have fun.
Don't limit yourself to sports or games when you think of
play. Broaden your view of the word to include whatever
leisure time activities you enjoy. Reading a book, spending
time with your kids, or going for a run are all great
examples of how you can play.
STOP
There are times when you become overwhelmed with life. Too
many things to do, and not enough time to do them. When
you face these situations, stop.
Give your mind and your body a rest. If you learn to take
a breather every now and then, you will return to your
tasks with renewed energy and motivation.
REWIND
For a quick motivation boost, rewind. Think about where
you once were, and where you are now. Think about the
progress you have made, and how far you have come.
When you take time to look back, it can help to motivate
you to keep moving forward. Press rewind, realize how
much you've accomplished, and get motivated.
FAST FORWARD
Another great technique to get motivated is to see into
the future. Take a goal you have and picture yourself
achieving it. The thing to remember with this lesson is to
make it as real as possible.
Add as much detail as you can to your vision of the
future. The more specific you make your picture, the
easier it will be to get there.
Once you see yourself succeeding, reaching your goals,
and feeling great once you are there, you will
find that you have all the motivation you need to proceed.
PAUSE
When you find yourself in a great moment, pause. This
lesson is all about being thankful for what you have, and
not taking the good things in your life for granted.
Too often we only appreciate things when they are no longer
with us. To avoid this unnecessary and unfortunate habit,
use the pause button whenever you find yourself in a good
situation.
Take a step back and let the moment really sink in. You
will begin to appreciate the things you have, not only
the things that you have lost.
HOW IT WORKS
The most important lesson deals with how the VCR works.
It only functions when you put something into it. The
same is true in life. You will only receive when you
decide to give. You will only reach your goals when you
give the required effort and determination.
Life gives output when you give it input. Hard work,
focus, persistence, dedication, belief. These are all
examples of input. The output?
Happiness, success, and getting what you want in life.
Hopefully you'll never look at your VCR the same way
again. Now as for the hundreds of remotes you own, that's
a different story.
